Interns & Fellows

Internships with GRACE Cares are a great opportunity to do some great work and gain excellent experience. We have had interns from high school to post-grad working on a number of projects. The goal is to match a potential interns course of study and experience with a role and project that is mutually beneficial. We have had interns work in our office, remotely from school or home, and at project locations. We have had interns studying nursing, law, humanities, development, business, and public health. Each experience and relationship is unique but the typical positions are:

Project Intern or Fellowship
Spend one to two months at one of our project locations working with the local Project Director. In Summer 2011 we had two graduate students working in the Dominican Republic to launch the stove project and help create the NGO Hearts DR.

Development Intern or Fellowship
Spend a semester part-time developing project materials, literature, and reports for a new or growing project. Having a person available and committed to the time in on a weekly basis is an amazing asset to have. Development interns will work with the Project Director to keep projects organized, on task, and well-documented. This often can involve fundraising or organizing an event in support of a project.

Organization Intern
This position focuses on helping run GRACE Cares. Depending on the current need this could be record keeping, writing newsletters, updating the website, reviewing project documentation, or helping prepare our regulatory reports. We have had assistance with policy and procedures review, long-term planning, and working with our database.

All internships are unpaid but we are happy to work with your school to help you obtain credit or outside funding. Our Officers have supervised numerous interns and work-study students for GRACE Cares and in their professions. Other then Project Internships, most are done remotely with weekly status meetings by telephone or skype. We do not usually post specific openings but feel free to contact us to discuss current opportunities.

DECEMBER 2011: WE HAVE AN IMMEDIATE NEED FOR A STUDENT OR RECENT GRADUATE TO COMPLETE SEVERAL ONGOING PROJECTS. WE HAD THREE RECENT LAW GRADUATES DO FELLOWSHIPS THIS FALL WHO ARE MOVING ON TO FULL-TIME JOBS. WE ARE LOOKING AT A WORK LOAD OF APPROXIMATELY 16-24 HOURS PER WEEK TOTAL BETWEEN TWO INTERNS OR ONE FELLOW BEGINNING IN DECEMBER AND RUNNING FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS.
